Halloween is an American holiday that is celebrated no matter the age, race or gender. Everyone dresses up in costumes ranging from characters, celebrities, professions and even inanimate objects. This holiday is celebrated in various ways from trick-or-treating, haunted houses, costume parties and pumpkin carving. Halloween is a festive holiday that gives us the opportunity to be someone else for a night and allows creativity to soar.
Halloween at IYF drug rehab
At Inspirations for Youth and Families we pride ourselves on creating a treatment center that allows our teens to enjoy life sober by participating in our sober fun activities. Unlike assembly line drug rehabs we took advantage of the Halloween holiday and turned it into a fun day for our teens to enjoy.
On Halloween we had our teens participate in the IYF Pumpkin Decorating Contest! For this contest we challenged our teens to create the most creative and scariest pumpkin. Our boys and girls competed for the two grand prizes.
The winners chosen unanimously by our staff were Nick and Oscar for their Ghoul and Vampire pumpkins.
Next up for our teens was the face painting and costume creation. Although they are in a teen drug rehab Inspirations for Youth and Families believes that allowing our clients to experience real life sober fun will increase their chances of wanting to continue a sober life. With that belief in mind we engaged our clients to create a costume of their choice!
Our teens got really creative and made some really awesome costumes for themselves and even some staff! The clients tried face painting for the first time and created some fun and unique faces. We had an assortment of face painting ideas that they managed to recreate with even some of their own creative twists.
IYF teen rehab goes trick or treating
After our teens were decked out in their Halloween face paint and costumes they proceeded to enjoy a must for this holiday trick or treating. Each of our offices was prepared with bowls of candy and chocolate for our eager teens to collect. Some of our staff joined in the festivities with costumes of their own.
Inspirations for Youth and Families was able to create a fun and creative day out of Halloween for our teens. Many of the teens started the day with the notion that they had outgrown Halloween and its traditions. However, by the end of our activities all our teens were glad they participated and relayed to the staff how grateful they were that they had the opportunity to celebrate this holiday while they were away from home.
