My name is Nick and I’m currently 14 years old. I will turn 15 on August 19th, 2013. This is my story.

When I was younger I was diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). I started getting in trouble at school and at home. I was stealing and lying. I also started using marijuana and heroin. Later I began cutting myself to help deal with my emotional pain.

My life was a mess. I was constantly getting in trouble and I needed help. My parents decided it was time for me to go to a teen rehab center so I could get help for my drug addictions and my behavioral issues.

I went to rehab at Inspirations for Youth and Families at the beginning of 2012. I was only two weeks into my program when my life changed completely. My mood improved and my relationship with my family completely changed. They finally began to trust me again. My parents no longer had to check my pockets after I left family events. I stayed at Inspirations for Youth and Families for three months.

After leaving Inspirations, I decided to come out to my family and tell them I am bisexual. It felt great to finally be honest with my parents and I felt like I could be myself around them. They fully accepted me for who I am, and I am grateful for that.

My life has changed for the better after coming to Inspirations Teen Rehab. I am sober and clean now. I have been clean since May of 2012.
