Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is a non-profit organization that develops and maintains the standards and quality in medical facilities. Even though a JCAHO accreditation is not a United States government regulatory agency and has no legal enforcement, it is a well known industry standard. JCAHO is also known to the public as a figure of upholding medical facility standards.
