Adolescent drug rehab Inspirations for Youth and Families hosted its bi-annual talent show and this one was truly a show for the ages! Inspirations Got Talent was created to help foster self esteem within our teens. For weeks they practice a particular talent and then show them off to fellow clients and Inspirations staff.
Inspirations Got Talent
This talent show encourages teens to put their skills and hard work out there for others to see. What they get in return is a room full of support and love. Many of our teens also walk away from the show feeling more confident within themselves and their abilities.
We had a total of ten performances at our Inspirations talent show. Here are some the highlights from the performances:
Autumn singer and dancer
Inspirations teen Autumn C. wowed her peers and IYF staff with her stunning dance moves and singing skills. She spent an entire week learning the popular Matt Steffanina choreography to pop hit “Work From Home” by Fifth Harmony. Check out her moves:
Autumn’s talent doesn’t end there. She also performed for the first time in front of others singing Frank Ocean’s most popular song “Thinkin Bout You”. View the performance here:
Eilish’s wonderful voice
Our talent show also shed light on another shy but extremely talented teen Eilish. She took to the Inspirations Got Talent stage showcasing her wonderful vocal skills. She sung “Let it Be” and stole the hearts of our crowd. See her mesmerizing performance here:
Bailey the up and coming poet
Poetry has become one of the post powerful coping skills among the teens at Inspirations. From Shannon’s viral poem to Sarah’s heartwarming poem to her mom. Our teens have been learning how to use poetry to their advantage and so did Bailey. Hear his heartfelt poem here:
Inspirations three musicians
Along with poetry music therapy has been very effective in helping our teens cope. We struck gold by having three awesome musicians here in our program! These talented teens also wrote their own songs! Check out Zeb and Matt’s “Original Composition” here:
