Inspirations Addiction Treatment
At Inspirations for Youth and Families (IYF) we strive to treat teens suffering from drug addiction and other mental health issues. The profession calls this dual diagnosis. Our clients often report that since undergoing IYF’s individualistic approach to drug addiction treatment, they have found a new purpose in their lives and they have become comfortable within themselves.
Katherine took it upon herself to find IYF to seek help with her drug addiction. In many cases, it is the parents that do the heavy lifting by finding a drug rehab for their teen.
Like most teens Katherine’s spiral into drug abuse started from what is commonly known as a gateway drug. They are not as addictive as other drugs, but are known to lead to the use of other more dangerous and/or highly addictive drugs. Katherine’s gateway drug was marijuana and it led her to become addicted to percocets and other opiate type drugs.
Upon arriving to IYF, Katherine was finally able to understand why she was abusing drugs. Her one on one and family counseling sessions with our exceptional therapists helped her as well as her family identify her reasoning for using drugs as an escape.
“It was based on an experience I had in my lifetime (why I started using drugs). It really took an emotional toll on me throughout my life. I was definitely self-medicating.”
Our unique addiction treatment program was able to bring to the surface all the painful events Katherine endured in life which exceeded her drug use. Katherine’s relationship with her mom greatly improved while at IYF. She learned how to freely communicate about her problems.
“I’m telling you, it was the best thing I’ve ever done (talking to my mom). It was a weight lifted off my shoulders.”
“I feel like I found myself through addiction treatment here. I lost myself a long time ago. I lost myself in drugs and I found myself here and I was able to learn many new tools that I can use when I go out into the world, where I will live and work to be a better person, and a person that can contribute to society.”
Katherine is now one of the many teens, IYF has helped to overcome their addiction and other mental issues. She is excited to return home and be with her family, friends and to no longer hold onto her past issues or let them continue to define her.
“I plan to use what I’ve learned here to have a successful life. The people here changed my life and I couldn’t be more thankful. Just having people here with an open ear listening to me, from the counselors who took the time to pull me aside and talk to me when I was crying, when I didn’t know who I was they helped me find myself.”
“It’s really amazing how these people, Inspirations have changed lives of so many young teens and it’s inspirational. (laughs)”
