Denise Achee: Hi! Thank you so much for coming in to share your experience at Inspirations with us.
Connor A: Thanks for having me.
DA: How many days have you been here?
CA: This is my 58th day.
DA: 58 days. How was it when you first came in here? Did you have an intervention or did you come willingly?
CA: Well I came from a different rehab actually.
DA: And what was that like?
CA: Not too well. I didn’t want to be there, it was too much. I didn’t really attempt to get better, but this one worked.
DA: This one
DA: How was your relationship with your parents before you went to treatment?
CA: It wasn’t good at all. I didn’t really have a relationship with them.
DA: How is that going now?
CA: It’s great. It’s way better.
DA: Yeah? Awesome and let me ask you: Has your education gotten behind or your academics while you were using?
CA: When I was using, yeah I was getting behind a lot.
DA: What happened here with your academics and your education?
CA: Here I was able to keep up with everything and I had time to complete everything.
DA: Did your school send in work or did you do the classes that they had at Inspirations?
CA: My school sent in work.
DA: Because you were next to mid-terms so you had to get your finals completed?
DA: Was that difficult to do while you were in treatment?
CA: No actually it was pretty easy. It wasn’t hard.
DA: Felt more focused?
CA: Yeah I was way more focused.
DA: Okay and how did you like your therapists? How was the therapy here?
CA: My therapist was good. He is a good therapist. We got along very well.
DA: So he’s helped you?
CA: Yeah he has.
DA: What are your plans for when you go home?
CA: When I go home I got to get back to school. I’m going to get a job for sure. I’ll attend NA meetings and just work on recovery, just staying sober.
DA: Do you think that’s going to be a challenge? Going back to school or going back to friends that you used to use with? How are you going to handle that?
CA: I mean it’s definitely going to be a challenge because it’s hard to get new friends but I know I have to if I want to stay sober because they’re no good for me.
DA: You can be an example as well, right?
DA: Well thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Is there anything else you want to add about…or share with someone who would be interested or is thinking about coming here?
CA: Well everyone when they get here they don’t want to be here. They like…once you get used to it you start wanting to get better and you start liking this place. It’s a good place.
DA: Have you made some friendships here?
CA: Yeah I’ve made a lot of friendships here.
DA: With people that you think you’ll contact afterward or be in contact with?
CA: Yeah definitely.
DA: That’s great. We want to congratulate you! You made it 58 days.
CA: Appreciate it.
DA: Very proud of you. Keep in contact with us, we’d love to hear back from you to see how your life is going after you leave here.
DA: Alright, thank you.
CA: You’re welcome.
