imagesLet’s go back to a time when you were eight years old and you were watching your favorite television show. As children, we idolized the TV stars we saw in these shows. As we grow older, we tend to forget about these stars that were once a major part of our lives. Some celebrities move on to bigger and better things, while others fade away. Many of these stars turn to drugs or alcohol, landing them on the front page of gossip magazines.

If you were born in the 1980s or 1990s, then you are familiar with many of the television stars that are now more famous for their drug and alcohol addictions. Mary Kate Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Macaulay Culkin, Jodie Sweetin,Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, Corey Feldmen, Harley Joel Osment, Amanda Bynes, Britney Spears, and Drew Barrymore are just a few of those childhood stars who were our role models.

Macaulay Culkin, star of the Home Alone series, reported became addicted to Oxycodone and heroin as well as benzodiazepines. Jodie Sweetin, one of the Full House stars, said she started using meth because she was bored. She attributes her alcoholism and drug use to the end of the long-running show, which left her with little to do. Despite denouncing alcohol in 2007, Amanda Bynes has been repeatedly in trouble with the law with DUI-related incidents.

Though some of these child stars have recovered, some of them continue to battle the disease of addiction. We are greatly influenced by the people we emulate. If you know your child is abusing drugs don’t wait to get help! Call us today at Inspirations for Youth and Families at (888) 757-6237.
