Fort Lauderdale, FL January 5th, 2016 – In response to New Jersey’s under served drug addicted population – South Florida dual diagnosis drug alcohol addiction treatment centers Inspirations for Youth and Families and the Cove Center for Recovery will be opening up a New Jersey addiction facility in Howell, New Jersey. The office will serve those suffering from substance abuse, alcohol abuse, and addiction as well as mental behavioral health disorders primarily in the state of New Jersey’s Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

It has been well documented that Opiate abuse is a public health crisis that is hitting New Jersey at full force. The state has struggled for several years with increasing rates of opiate abuse. Both in the form of prescription painkillers and now also heroin. A task force is now set up and they spent over two years studying the issue, and last year it this is their results.

Drug abuse in New Jersey

According to the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, drug-related deaths in New Jersey have skyrocketed in recent years. It has increased 53 percent from 2010 to 2012. More than two-thirds of those deaths were due to prescription drug abuse.

“We are filling an inherent need by opening our doors in New Jersey,” said Karen Corcoran-Walsh, owner and founder of Inspirations for Youth and Families and the Cove Center for Recovery. “There is a scarcity of drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers in the Garden State. We have heard that one of the few options to treat heroin abuse in New Jersey is through incarceration due to the lack of resources. This is unacceptable to us and we aim to provide some much needed relief.”

According to the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, drug-related deaths in New Jersey have skyrocketed in recent years, increasing 53 percent from 2010 to 2012.
