Inspirations for Youth and Families is proud to be the title sponsor for the 2nd Annual Charlie McCutcheon Memorial, presented by BocaPal. The Boca Raton Police Athletic League puts on the Charlie McCutcheon Golf Tournament  at the Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton. The Boca Raton PAL mentors at-risk youth through athletic and academic involvement.

The Boca Raton PAL is an organization that mentors at-risk youth ages 9 through 18 through athletic and academic involvement with PAL’s volunteer staff and board of directors. Activities include: after-school boxing; basketball; weight training; cheerleading; leadership; and study hall. Proceeds from the golf tournament will go toward programming. The organization was started by the Boca Raton Police Services Department in 1991. PAL helps teens at risk of academic failure, substance abuse or criminal activity, by providing safe places for them to go during non- school hours with structured recreational activities.

“PAL has played a major role in the positive development of many Boca Raton kids,” said PAL Golf Committee Co-Chair Robert Deneve. “Many of the youth involved in PAL improve both academically and athletically. Some PAL participants have received scholarships to private middle and high schools, as well as colleges and universities.”

Boca Raton police officers supervise all activities and act as mentors and role models for children.

“PAL’s a great charity and that’s why we’re out here,” Officer Mike Lamia and Det. Jeff Clare, of Boca Raton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35, said on the putting green.
