FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Press Release)
Sep 1, 2010 -- There is a new drug that mimics the number
one abused illegal drug, marijuana. This new drug is legal.
The drug spice is also known as K2 and it can be bought online
or at smoke shops. Teenagers looking to get high can purchase
spice and smoke it just like marijuana. It has a strand component
that is like THC. However this drug does not show up on drug
tests. This drug is dangerous and it is readily accessible.
For instance, in Massachusetts, the drug spice is sold, by
its name brand K2. A bag costs about thirty dollars. It has
side effects just as any drug, including death. David Rozga,
an eighteen year old smoked the substance. His friends say
he was freaking out, hallucinations and paranoia. Later that
day he went home and shot himself in the head.
The drug spice is very dangerous. Besides its effects on your
brain, heart, and respiratory breathing, it is 200 to 800
percent more potent than the common grade of the illegal substance,
marijuana. In 2010, the Poison Control Center has reached
an enormous increase in reports of K2 from 2009. In 2009 there
were 13 reported jumping to 750 reports already in 2010. It
was originally created in part to steady the effects of marijuana.
Now it is sold in head shops as harmless incense. Do not be
fooled! The sellers know exactly what they are selling and
what happens.
Parents in many states across the nation are trying to get
state legislators to ban the drug spice, K2. David was not
the first teen to die from this drug and unless action is
taken, unfortunately, he will not be the last. It is a good
opportunity for the states to ban the drug now, while it is
new, before it gets popular and causes more substance abuse
problems for our young teens.
There are solutions to substance abuse and/ or addiction.
There is a flexible teen addiction treatment program at Inspiration
Teen Rehab featuring both residential and non residential
treatment available with interactive and experiential learning
therapy. The owners have been featured on the DR. Phill show
featuring their successful treatment programs. Teens from
all of the U.S. have received addiction treatment at Inspirations
Teen Rehab. Take action before the problem grows.
