FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Press Release)
Dec. , 2010 -- Teenage depression isn’t just bad moods
and occasional melancholy. Depression is a serious problem that
impacts every aspect of a teen’s life. Left untreated,
teen depression can lead to problems at home and school, drug
abuse, self-loathing - even irreversible tragedy such as homicidal
violence or suicide. Here are teen signs that could indicate
that your teen needs immediate care or attention.
1. A noticeable change in behavior such as becoming moody,
mood swings, or with drawn for interaction.
2. Sleeping excessively or staying in their rooms for longer
than normal periods of time.
3. Losing interest in usual routines or hobbies.
4. Stop socializing with friends.
5. Starting to get in trouble at school/ Performance in school
decreases.
6. Experimenting with drugs, alcohol, and/ or criminal activity.
7. Sadness, anxiety, suicide thoughts/actions. Anger or rage,
problem with authority.
8. Lack of motivation/ energy, fatigue. Lack of concentration,
forgetfulness.
9. Poor self esteem or inappropriate amount of guilt.
10. Change in eating habits, rapid weight loss or gain.
If you’re unsure if an adolescent in your life is depressed
or just “being a teenager,” consider how long
the symptoms have been present, how severe they are, and how
different the teen is acting from his or her usual self. While
some “growing pains” are to be expected as teenagers
grapple with the challenges of growing up, dramatic, long-lasting
changes in personality, mood, or behavior are red flags of
a deeper problem. Consult with a professional.
