Overdose Statistics

Deaths between 2010 and 2011 increased by 8% and about 55% are related to prescription drug overdose.

An overdose is characterized as overtaking a substance such as drugs and alcohol. This over consumption leads the body not responding to stimulants and a lack of oxygen flowing through the body. With inadequate breathing, oxygen levels drop and cyanosis begins. Signs of this include the lips and figers turning blue. Lack of oxygen then causes major organs like the brain and heart to fail causing death. As the overdose rate increases each year it is important to start sharing the facts and how to get help now before it is too late.
