(Press Release)
September 1, 2010 -- Oxycotin is a prescription drug that
varies in dosage. It is prescribed as a pain reliever, usually

drug is commonly responsible for many teen overdoses. According
to the DEA, there are about 300 deaths a year, but 6,000 emergency

oxy, roxy, or blues. However, roxy, does not have
the time release coating, but roxy is still a form of oxycontin.
Oxycontin Teen Drug Use and Abuse
After taking Oxycontin for a period of time, your body develops
a tolerance for the drug, causing one to need to take larger
amounts to feel the effects. This can increase the dangers
of the already dangerous drug. The drug attaches to certain
receptors in your spin and brain, blocking your body from
receiving messages. This drug is very dangerous, especially
mixed with other drugs and/or alcohol. It is common for teens
to mix alcohol and oxycontin which causes their breathing
to slow down or even stop, leading to overdoses and death.
Teens can become addicted to this drug.
Side effects:
Respiratory decrease, drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, sedation,
nausea, vomiting, anorexia, urinary alterations, rashes, bruising,
sweating, vision impairment, death, addiction, and change
in blood pressure.
Signs of an overdose:
Cardiac arrest, clammy skin, coma skeletal muscles, slowed
respiratory, and death.
Teens who abuse oxycontin administer the pill by swallowing,
crushing, breaking, snorting, or injection. This drug is dangerous
especially when taken by teens who are not the intended prescriber.
Even if taken properly, orally, the dosage could be to high
for someone, resulting in death. The appropriate dosage for
one person is not the appropriate dosage for their friends.
One 80mg pill of oxycontin is equal to taking 16 Percocet
at a time, one 160 mg pill is equal to 32 Percocet. When crushed,
oxycontin becomes like taking a whole bottle of Percocet at
once.
